Google Docs, Dropbox Agent Presents The Edit Document Service

Dropbox will compete in head-to-head with a very popular web applications, Google Docs, by presenting its newest service, Dropbox Paper. In fact, Dropbox Paper is a platform for collaborative document editing in a browser.

Quoted from Tech Crunch, Tuesday (17/10/2015), Dropbox Paper allows users to edit documents in real time. The way it works on its own as follows; Users can create a Paper document and type the text immediately. Compared to Google Docs or Quip, the Paper is not fed a lot of text editing. If users want to format documents, the user should use other word processing applications. In some ways, a Paper similar to EtherPad.

Then, what if the user wants to add pictures and videos? Users can browse the links and adding his own Dropbox Dropbox directly in the document. Automatically Paper will change the link into pictures and videos. This also applies to the way other web content, such as YouTube videos, SoundCloud, and so on.

Users can also write a to do list, calling people to tell him in a document when users require feedback from that person, also leaving a comment right next to certain paragraphs.

Paper can be referred to as a competitor to Google Docs, though in some ways like include the content and approach of the words on Paper though unremarkable, if compared to Google Docs. Therefore, the Paper is more looks like a ' Whiteboard ' rather than document creation platform. But then again, many users of Google Docs already use this service to draft something quickly.

So, it remains unclear whether Google Docs users will switch to Paper to do something that can already do with Google Docs without having to include content which is nice. Currently, the Paper is still not officially available to all users of Dropbox.Users must register to enter the waiting list first.
